Throughout January and February, the Burnham Beeches team carried out their annual maintenance work on 60 ancient pollards. Most of the work was carried out by the Burnham Beeches staff, who were joined by climbers from Hampstead Heath who helped prune 10 pollards.Over 400 people took part in Woodland Wonders ‘Freaky food chain’ trail and half term activities in February. A popular self-guided walk, consisting of a number of information boards about wildlife food chain along the route. Over 20 arborists from City Corporation owned sites, other sites across the UK and Europe attended a Pollarding Open Day on 14 February. It was a great opportunity to watch tree pruning in progress and to exchange experience and ideas. During Easter visitors will be able to have a go at the Easter Puzzler or the Easter egg hunt and, for early risers, there is a dawn chorus walk at 6am on 25 March.
