The City of London Academy Southwark recently hosted a student-led Science Fair as part of British Science Week, and hosted an inspiring visit from poet and editor, Siana Bangura as part of International Women’s Week. The Academy’s A-level Physicists also had the privilege of witnessing the Freedom of the City of London ceremony for Professor Stephen Hawkings. The Academy has also continued to build strong links with Livery Companies and recently hosted Master Currier John Davies who lunched with the Curriers’ sponsored Sixth Form students. The Academy’s Barbers’ sponsored students and prize winners also enjoyed lunch at Barber Surgeons’ Hall. The annual prize giving event will be held 5 July and the Academy looks forward to welcoming representatives from the companies and guilds that sponsor the prizes. Academy governors have continued to support the Academy’s activities through link visits and sitting on panels to hear the students’ EPQ presentations.
