City of London Academy Southwark Action-Packed Half-Term

This has been an action packed half-term with much to celebrate. The City of London Academy Southwark women’s Basketball 3v3 team won the Women’s Elite Academy Basketball League national finals which were hosted at the Academy. This event was made more special by the guest appearance of NBA star, Paul George. The Academy’s giant dinosaur chicken sculpture, which started life in a key stage three art club, is being exhibited at the Museum of Natural History, Oxford. The Academy also completed its’ year nine collaborative project with the Worshipful Company of Makers of Playing Cards commemorating World War One. This has resulted in an excellent display in the Academy’s
atrium, which will move to the Guildhall Art Gallery next month. The Academy’s students have also performed at the City Schools’ Music Festival at the Guildhall School of Music, debated at Dulwich College, learned about Neurosurgery with the Kings Medical School and taken part in the NASA Space Design Competition.
