Community Safety Team

On 22 February, the Community Safety Team hosted an event for representatives from London boroughs and housing associations looking at how to respond to the challenges of hate crime. The Mayor’s office for Policing and Crime and the judiciary, looked at the scale and nature of the problem in London, current responses and how these might be improved. The City of London enjoys comparatively low levels of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) compared to its neighbouring areas. However, we are not immune to these concerns which can cover issues ranging from nuisance through to the clearly criminal. Over recent years new problems develop and
legislation has also evolved to provide a variety of enforcement options. To help improve effectiveness and coherence the Safer City Partnership is overseeing the development of a strategy to tackle the breadth of ASB problems in the City.
