The Golden Lane Leisure Centre has launched a consultation document that will gauge the views of the centre’s users, non users and wider stakeholder groups on the future position of the centre.
Stakeholders will be asked to express their opinion on the three options available:-
• To invest no further monies in to the centre and close at an agreed date within the next 2-3 years ensuring that residents receive discounted leisure provision at neighbouring sites;
• Carry out works to the centre in order to extend its life by approximately ten years at a cost of £500,000; and
• Refurbish and modernise the centre to ensure that it remains open and a fit-for-purpose facility at a cost of approximately £2 million.
Copies of the document and questionnaire can be obtained via the Golden Lane Leisure Centre or by contacting Emma Snelling of the Community and Children’s Services Sports Development Team.
The consultation period was launched at the Sports Hall of the Centre at an evening event on 3 April. (Contact Emma Snelling, 7332 1249)♦
