In partnership with the Learning team and Wild Schools programme, the Wildlife nature garden extension is underway. Aided by volunteers, Friends of the Park and colleagues from across the Open Spaces, a dead hedge will be created and will form a new perimeter to the extended garden offering a valuable habitat for birds and hedgehogs. The ongoing maintenance of the hedge will be used in ‘wilderness’ sessions with older children.
The Guildhall School is one of five drama schools to sign a three-year partnership with the Diversity School Initiative: a non-profit campaigning organisation set up to address under-representation and diversity in UK drama schools. The partnership includes a programme of events and workshops for staff and students, a mentoring and networking scheme for students and outreach activities into schools and colleges, as well as sharing knowledge and information and auditing progress on diversity.
On 16 March, the Guildhall School of Music & Drama officially launched The Leadership Academy, a one-of-a-kind initiative that will harness the School’s deep knowledge and expertise in the arts to develop new models of leadership and leadership training for senior decision-makers. Since its foundation, Freemen’s has always welcomed pupils from all backgrounds. We know an education here can provide a transformative experience to our students’ lives. However, we do not believe that these opportunities should only be open to those who can afford the fees; we feel that we have a social responsibility to do more. Throughout January and February, the Burnham Beeches team carried out their annual maintenance work on 60 ancient pollards. Most of the work was carried out by the Burnham Beeches staff, who were joined by climbers from Hampstead Heath who helped prune 10 pollards. Continue reading Burnham Beeches
