The Museum of London’s plans for a new museum in West Smithfield have been given a major boost thanks to huge support from the City Corporation and the Mayor of London, who have pledged £110m and £70m respectively. This marks an important next step for the project, which will save one of the last remaining derelict Victorian buildings in central London and transform an area of the capital with a rich and fascinating history. The City of London School Visits Fund launched on 4 November 2014 and is on track to meet its target of benefitting 100 schools in its first year. It is managed by the Museum of London and offers schools in disadvantaged areas of London up to £300 to help them visit 20 City-supported cultural venues.
Examination results of the City’s three independent schools, the City of London Academies and the Sir John Cass Primary school have risen again confirming the City achieves exceptional academic outcomes.
